My favorite stories

When I was still a reporter, I couldn’t help but become attached to my stories.

Even when I was covering the war in Afghanistan in the middle of the desert... I would find people ... write about them and befriend them.

They became a part of me.

I’m still the same.

Only now instead of words and newsprint .... I use food.

My job is very different but the connections I’ve made are just as strong.

Today for work, in between shuttling my three kids to and from school, I made soup, muffins, brownies, cookies, and the beginnings of a chocolate cake.

They are all being delivered for different reasons .... one is celebrating a birthday ... one needs a little love, one is not feeling well, one is trying her best as a new Mom...and one just deserves to be spoiled.

Some of the food I am being paid for ... some of it will be boxed into gifted surprises.

But it is all going to one time customers... who became repeat customers ... and now friends.

I created a recipe for the cookies you see in this picture today.

They are chock full of chocolate of course but also old fashioned oats, brewer’s yeast, coconut and ground flax ... I’m calling them love cookies... because I’m crazy like that!!!

They aid in fertility and breast milk production...

And I just happen to have a few friends who could use them

food is love ... spread it with cookies

*****

I’ll let you in on a little secret ... these daily posts ...that many of you are generous enough to take the time to read are the foundation of my cook book ... as a busy Mom it’s the only way I can chip away at a task like that...I write little bits each day with a picture and a recipe.

The next few weeks will be spent typing in the recipes at night when everyone is sleeping.

I’m 80 percent done with pictures and stories ....your encouragement cheers me on! Thank you.

From the bottom of my heart
